										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Food Institute of Malaysia (FIM) congratulates its alumnus, Muhammad Syafiq Syahmi Saidon, on his outstanding achievement after winning the Gold Medal and being crowned Overall Champion in the Team Category at the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge (TUCC) 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.</p>
<p>Muhammad Syafiq Syahmi is a graduate of the Diploma in Culinary Arts (DCA), September 2021 intake.</p>
<p>He has brought pride to Malaysia on the international culinary stage as part of Team Lotus’s Malaysia.</p>
<p>The team, also comprising Chef Leo Wong and Chef Yuventhiran Pillai A/L Arumugam Pillai, represented Malaysia at the competition held from 26 to 30 May 2026 in conjunction with THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2026 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok.</p>
<p>The Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge (TUCC) is one of Asia’s most prestigious culinary competitions and is recognised by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS).</p>
<p>The 12th edition of the competition brought together more than 400 professional chefs from various countries, competing across multiple categories that tested skill, creativity, and innovation.</p>
<p>Notably, Team Lotus’s Malaysia emerged as the only team to be awarded a Gold Medal in the Team Category, ahead of other teams that received Silver Medals.</p>
<p>The team was also crowned Overall Champion of the Team Category after securing the highest cumulative score.</p>
<p>In the Asian Gourmet Challenge, the Malaysian team impressed the judges with a menu showcasing Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage in a modern and creative presentation.</p>
<p>The dishes included Kerabu Pucuk Paku Salad Roll with Toasted Coconut Emulsion, Mackerel Otak-Otak Mousseline with Otak-Otak Sauce, Tom Yum Soup with Prawn Mosaic, Marinated Lamb Patty in Rogan Josh Sauce, “Boxing” Chicken with Green Masala Curry, and Leum Kleun Lava dessert with Thai Tea Semi-Freddo.</p>
<p>Muhammad Syafiq Syahmi’s achievement reflects the quality of training and education provided by the Food Institute of Malaysia, which continues to produce graduates who are competitive at a global level.</p>
<p>This achievement also serves as an inspiration for FIM students to continue striving for excellence in the culinary field.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Food Institute of Malaysia (FIM) has introduced the Hospitality Certificate Sponsorship Programme (TSH), a special initiative aimed at providing asnaf students with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the culinary field.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The programme focuses on skills training that leads to competency certification in culinary arts and food service. Students will undergo both theoretical and practical training at FIM for six months, including industrial training.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Through this approach, students not only learn the fundamentals of cooking and food preparation techniques, but will also be exposed to a more professional and structured learning environment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The sponsorship initiative is implemented with the support of PNB’s Shariah Management Department through the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), specifically to assist students from asnaf backgrounds in pursuing skills-based education without having to worry about financial constraints.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Throughout the programme, the sponsorship covers tuition fees, accommodation, as well as meals and beverages.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In addition, students will receive various forms of support and learning necessities, including aprons, training materials, and other essential supplies throughout their studies and training sessions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As part of their career preparation, students will also receive a Food Handler Training Certificate recognised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), Typhoid vaccination and opportunities for industrial training placement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The programme provides students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and practical skills in the hospitality industry through a more structured and comprehensive learning experience at FIM, while strengthening their foundation in the culinary field.</span></p>

<p>For students who have completed their SPM and are still unsure about their direction after finishing school, the fields of food, hospitality, and tourism have now become some of the most popular choices due to their broad career opportunities and constant demand across many industries.</p>
<p>In fact, many young people are now choosing skills-based education over conventional academic studies because it provides easier access to real industry experience while also offering the potential to build their own careers at a young age.</p>
<p>In line with the growth of these industries, the Food Institute of Malaysia (FIM) is now offering students the opportunity to continue their studies in a variety of attractive diploma programmes, including the Diploma in Culinary Arts, Diploma in Pastry and Bakery, Diploma in Food Service Management, Diploma in Hotel Management, and Diploma in Tourism Management.</p>
<p>More reassuringly, all programmes offered have been approved by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education and have received full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).</p>
<p>What attracts even more attention is that FIM also provides free accommodation throughout the duration of study, helping students from outside the area begin their studies more comfortably.</p>
<p>The culinary and hospitality fields are no longer just hobbies or interests, but have grown into major industries that offer job opportunities in hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, tourism companies, and even opportunities to start one’s own business.</p>
<p>Programmes such as the Diploma in Pastry and Bakery, for example, are increasingly gaining the attention of the younger generation who want to pursue it as a professional career, while the Diploma in Hotel Management and Diploma in Tourism Management open wide opportunities in the rapidly growing tourism industry.</p>
<p>With practical training, industry-based learning, and recognised qualifications, FIM is seen as one of the institutions providing students with the opportunity to build their future early in a fast-growing field.</p>
